When did the Bel Air switch from two to three tail lights?

Actually the Bel Air always had two tail lights, only the fancier Impala had three tail lights. The Impala was just a fancier Bel Air, which itself was just a fancier Biscayne. As far as I know, the main difference between the three are the amount of chrome bits and the tail lights for the impala.

Oh really? For some reason I thought the Bel Air and Impala switched the amount of tail lights they had at some point in the production history
